Payroll & Payday Policy
Payroll & Payday Policy For Ontario, Alberta & BC employers.

Payroll & Pay Day Policy Canada

POLICY #:  215

What is a Payroll & Payday policy? Why do I need it?

The Payroll & Payday policy communicates when employees get paid and clarifies pay period start and end dates.

It's beneficial because:

  • It clarifies what period of work is covered by their paycheck.  For example, if someone is paid on Friday the 19th, does that cover pay up to and including the 19th? Or Friday the 12th? Or Sunday the 14th?
  • It also communicates that your business requires that the employee is paid by direct deposit and that cheques are not processed for payroll.

Where can I find the Payroll & Pay Day policy?

The HR Toolkit's policies are not created as standalone documents. Rather, they are all included within the Employee Manual, driven by a table of contents. This provides a better employee experience for easily accessing and cross referencing all policies.

  • Active HR Toolkit subscribers can find this policy in all 3 employee manual templates for Ontario, Alberta, BC, in the Staff PoliciesHuman Resources & Payroll section, or search the document for "Payroll & Pay Day".
