Ontario is enhancing COVID-related safety measures around long-term care homes in response to the potential threat from the Omicron variant — and further changes should be anticipated for other high-risk, front-line workers.

Ontario asks that employees work from home

The Ontario government is now asking employers in all industries in the province to continue asking employees to work from home whenever possible.

The announcement comes after the City of Toronto announced it would be welcoming fully vaccinated employees back to the office starting Jan. 4, 2022.

Alberta is taking immediate actions and clarifying health measures to protect Albertans and the health-care system against the highly transmissible Omicron variant of the COVID-19 virus. 


British Columbia

WorkSafeBC seeks feedback on policy workplans

The Policy, Regulation and Research Department has prepared draft 2022–2024 Policy Workplans for stakeholder review and comment. These workplans encompass policy priorities relating to compensation, occupational disease, assessments, and occupational health and safety.

Stakeholders are invited to review the discussion paper and proposed workplans, and to provide feedback by January 14, 2022.
