What Excel skills do I need?

Depending on the content and complexity of the Excel workbook you're working with, you'll need to do some or all of the following as you customize it:

  • Filter and sort data
  • Rename or delete columns
  • Modify drop-down lists 
  • Use basic worksheet functions like AUTOSUM, SUM, AVERAGE, and SUBTOTAL
  • Rename and delete worksheet tabs 
  • Password-protect a workbook
  • Understand and modify basic formulas and use them to add, subtract, divide, and multiply data
  • Summarize data using key worksheet functions like SUMIF, SUMIFS, COUNTIF, and COUNTIFS
  • Filter worksheet text using Text to Columns and Remove Duplicates 
  • Use group, sort, and filtering to view data
